HERS Process

Process

There are a series of HERS test services offered.  Many are based on  heating/cooling system installations. But there are also many more required for insulation, water heating & plumbing,  IAQ fans and more.
The HERS rater can assist to determine what tests are required after reviewing Title 24 report.  If no Title 24 report was issued,  the HERS rater will determine the required tests based on the scope of work.
Title 24 report
Review Title 24 report - Look for section HERS Feature Summary section.  This summary section detail the type(s) of HERS services required.
Transfer Project to HERS rater - Energy consultant to transfer project to HERS rater.  This is done online through Calcerts.com.  This is coordinated with contractor/builder and HERS Rater.

Testing
Once it's determined scope of test(s),  appointment for testing & verification is scheduled.  Appointment will include all necessary tests.
Tests consist of a series of diagnostic measurements and visual verification as required. If satisfactory, then HERS rater will issue certificates online and provide and PDF copy to client.  If test fails,  contractor will need to correct conditions and retesting will be required.
